Fred Massoomi, Pharm.D., BCSCP, FASHP, graduated from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in Lawrence, Kansas, in 1990. Following his graduation, he completed a one-year ACCP fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the Université Laval in Québec City, Québec, in 1991. Subsequently, he undertook an ACCP residency in pharmacokinetics at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, completing it in 1992. In 2006, he earned the designation of Fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and served as the president of the Nebraska Pharmacists Association in 2014. Fred is also a Board-Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacist.


Throughout his career, Fred has collaborated with various healthcare professionals to implement medication management programs grounded in best practices and safety guidelines. His areas of intense focus and interest encompass medication safety, the safe handling of hazardous drugs by healthcare providers, non-sterile compounded preparations, sterile compounded preparations, medication management automation, and the proper disposal of pharmaceutical drug waste.


Why did you accept your appointment to the SCXP?

"The evolution of medication management is an ongoing process demanding constant diligence and review to ensure the safety of both patients and healthcare providers. Learning in this field is a collaborative effort, and the collective experiences of healthcare providers contribute to the development of best practices yet to be fully defined. Being a member of the SCXP provides me with the opportunity to actively engage in this collaborative learning process, aligning with my personal mission to assist healthcare providers and patients in achieving the safest therapies possible.
