Clinton Meachum, CSPT, PMP: Clinton Meachum practiced as a career pharmacy technician for over 10 years with one of North Carolina's prestigious health systems, Cone Health. Meachum currently holds a medium-risk sterile compounding professional certificate from the organization ASHP and has been an early adopter of the PTCB’s, CSPT credential since early 2019. His pharmacy journey began while studying his transfer credits at Davidson County Community College under the pharmaceutical technology diploma course. This course and his clinical experiences inspired him to commit to a full-time career with the intent to raise the quality of care for patients as well as grow and expand pharmacy technicians’ responsibilities and job opportunities within pharmacy.

His more recent tenures were oversight and responsibility over a system-wide compounding compliance program and sat on the PCAC (pharmacy compounding advisory council) for Cone Health, which included 10 sterile compounding cleanrooms. He was instrumental in developing and implementing an in-house IV workflow management system to eliminate the syringe pull-back method. He also launched a system-wide compliance program that would align garbing, cleaning practices, schedules, and training for all designated compounding personnel. Other accomplishments while at Cone Health included launching and leading a team of 10 motivated technicians that took over the monthly sporicidal cleanings and monthly environmental sampling program for the health system.

Why did you accept appointment to SCXP?

I am passionate and experienced with all things sterile compounding and quality assurance. I believe in a just culture and continuous process improvement regarding patient safety. I am excited to share my experiences and to lift and support other pharmacy professionals as the first pharmacy technician member of the SCXP.”
